The picture I took is from Tel Baruch Beach in north Tel Aviv. One of the reasons I chose to take my picture there is that the beach is close to my house and I love to hang out there. In the summer I love to go and swim there with my family or my friends and in the winter and when it is too cold for swimming I come to the beach sometimes even by myself in order to relax or exercise. This place is really important to me because I have a lot of memories from it.

The beach has its own life. In the summer, it is hot and crowded and in the winter it is windy, gray and quite. The beach means a lot to me. I am really happy that I live by the beach. It was a very easy selection for me to choose to take my picture there. I really like how quiet the beach is. In the summer a lot of people come to this beach but still there is place for everyone and it’s not noisy. I also like the fact that the beach is clean and it has sport facilities supplied next to the sea so it’s nice to do sport while you are next to the sea… But the thing I like the most is that this beach is like a little piece of nature in the middle of the city. It is really nice to have nature close to your house especially when you live in such a big city like Tel Aviv and sometimes you are really stressed out, so it’s really relaxing to come over there to the sea and watch the sunset. The thing I don’t like about the beach is the airport (Sdeh-Dov airport) next to it. One of the things I like the most about this beach is the quiet and when the airport is working it destroys this. Also, the airport brings a lot of dirt to the beach.

The history of the beach:

Tel Baruch Beach is named after Tel Baruch neighborhood even though that it is not so close to the neighborhood. The reason for the name is because in the 50’s, the road that was leading to the beach was named Tel Baruch road so it was also decided to call the beach Tel Baruch beach.

Not so long ago, Tel Baruch wasn’t the beach it is today and served as an isolated place for doing forbidden things, but today the beach has gone through a dramatic transformation thanks to Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and it became the beautiful beach I love. The beach is regulated and contains rescue services and some other services such as restaurants. Also, between Tel Baruch Beach and Tel Aviv port, a promenade was built as part of the Tel Aviv promenade.

The place is shaped by Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality. They made it the beach that it is and added chairs, sunshades, a lifeguard station, showers, toilets, parking, sport facilities, benches, a grass lawn and even a path that leads to the port for pedestrians and cyclists. The municipality’s impact was enormous, . They have completely changed the place (upside down).

If I could I would have made one change to the place. In my opinion, Sde-Dov airport should not be part of the landscape. The airport is noisy and pollutes the air and ruins the perfect beach I love.

So, I would like Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality to remove the airport and I believe that they can do it.
